ACUPUNCTURE

Acupuncture has been used in China for over 5,000 years. Traditionally, it is based on ancient Chinese theories of the flor of Qi (energy) and Xue (Blood) through collateral channels or meridians which traverse the body that are close but not identical to the nervous and blood circulatory systems. According to this theory, acupuncture regulates this flow of Qi, nourishing those areas where it is deficient and draining it from where it is excessive. Thus, Acupuncture regulates the harmonious and energetic balance of the body. In China, there is a famous dictum “there is no pain if there is free flow; if there is pain, there is no free flow.” Essentially, acupuncture promotes the free and balanced flow of Qi and blood.

Are the Needles Clean?

Certainly! The needles are clean because we use only disposable needles at East Bay Chiropractic. They are surgically sterilized by the manufacturer and will be used only once, so there is no chance of infection.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

An Acupuncture needle is so fine and thin that it can fit inside of a needle used for vaccination. You may feel a slight pricking, numbing, tingling or swelling sensation in the area around the needle when it is inserted. The sensation usually only last only a moment before subsiding after insertion of the needle is finished.
