Chiropractic
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is the art and science of finding and correcting misalignments in the spine and joints of the body that have become restricted in movement. If left in that state for an extended period of time, the tissues of the joint will degenerate resulting in a lack of function and a decrease in the neuro-electrical impulse through the spine and extremities. The nervous system controls and coordinates every tissues, tendons, sinews, muscles and organ in the body. Without the proper neuro-electrical impulse to each of these areas, the nerve supply will be deprived, and the body will not function as intended. Chiropractic care restores joint mobility by applying a gentle and controlled force into the joints that are restricted in their movement through what is referred to as a manual manipulation or chiropractic adjustment. Routine chiropractic care can improve motion to the joint, allow proper nerve flows and return the reparative/preventative function to the body.
Initial Chiropractic Appointment: What to Expect
New Patient Forms
Upon entering our office, we will welcome you as a member of our family. You will be asked to complete the new patient forms. This paperwork provides us information we need to know regarding your medical history or any preexisting medical conditions, and helps us prepare a ideal chiropractic treatment plan, personalized for your particular situation.
Consultation
Next, we will take you to our exam room to have a consultation with Dr. Fan Yang, D.C., to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, and potential treatment options.
During this initial appointment, Dr. Yang will ask you some questions which are meant to help him learn more about you, your condition, and your expectations.
Based upon his findings, he can then determine how chiropractic care can meet your goals.
Examination
After your consultation, Dr. Fan Yang, D.C. will perform a through chiropractic exam which may include checking your blood pressure, pulse, respiration, reflexes and flexibility.
Specific neurological and orthopedic tests may be used to assess the:
- Muscle Tone
- Range of Motion of the Affected Area.
- Muscle Strength
- Neurological Integrity
Report of Findings
Based on the results of your history, comprehensive chiropractic exam and diagnostic studies Dr. Yang, D.C. will give you a detailed report of all the findings he concluded upon your first visit. He will also answer any questions you might have.
After reviewing your health history and goals, and upon examining any diagnostic imaging, Dr. Yang, D.C. will give you his diagnosis, recommendations, and notify you whether your condition requires additional care from other providers.
Individualized Treatment Plan
Our alternative medicine team works directly with the spine to remove any interference that may be preventing the body to heal itself and restores natural healing processes within the body.
New patients will undergo a consultation that involves reviewing past and current health conditions, medications, surgeries, and physical examination. Once this process is completed, our practitioners will use the information to establish a diagnosis and create an individualized treatment plan.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
Following the adjustment, some patients may experience slight soreness in or around the adjusted areas resulting from your body adapting to the changes we have made. Most patients report feeling more relaxed following the adjustment and state that any soreness experienced is no longer present within the first few days.
